Survivor Samoa, can we just kill a contestant already?

So far this season on Survivor, we had a medical emergency which sent the old guy, Mike, packing his bags and heading home.  This week’s episode brings up the question, can’t we just kill a contestant already??

Whaddup folks!

Been working fairly hard on getting the site all put together so I have not really had as much time as I would like to devote to writing on the various evils I enjoy watching.  I do apologize for that, well not really, but if that what it takes for you to wanna come back consider it done.  So onto today’s topic.  Survivor Samoa!

First off this is my first post on this show so bear with me, going to spin a bit of a recap and my thoughts about this seasons game so far.  I’ve not really been a super hard corps survivor fan throughout the years, but I have to tell ya, this season has won me over.  And the primary reason that this season has been so appealing is because of one person, one man who stands above all others, well perhaps in the shadow of most.  This man is Russell of Foa Foa of course.

Russell’s strategy of pure deception and arrogance is truly a breath of fresh air in reality these days.  Today’s reality game stars tend to play this game of honest deception.  One in which they attempt to make it out like they are not in fact lying through their teeth when they claim to be 18.  With Russell though, he just straight up makes flat out bullshit alliances with anyone and everyone.  The first week he had 3 or 4 alliances going which he referred to as his, “Stupid Girls Alliances.”  LOL, and when he gets called out on it, he sets the person calling him out up to get the boot come tribal council.  This guy is a competitor, he is strong, he has an iron freaking will.  If you want to learn how to win in reality, pay close attention to this fellow.  This style is not one which can be taught, this is his lifestyle.  Russell is in real life an oil millionaire from Texas and one which I’m sure has gleaned much of the skills you have seen on survivor from his business dealings.

Enough about Russell H though, lets move on to what happened this week when challenge time comes along.  The challenge was a pretty cool one and the reward was going to be spectacular.  For winning team of this competition, a pizza party was to be held.  Not only would the winners get to eat pizza though, they would get to do so in front of the other team while they were holding their tribal council to give someone the boot!

The challenge involved rolling these huge American Gladiator style spheres with a contestant inside to a table about 100 feet away where there was a tabletop maze the contestants had to manually tilt to maneuver a ball through.  The catch was the only person who wasn’t blindfolded on each team was the one inside of the spheres.  The movers were both blindfolded.  On galu they chose Russell and Eric to push while Laura was inside.  F0a foa had Russell and Jaison with liz inside.  The competition went back and forth for a while until foa foa pulled ahead and made it to the tabletop maze well ahead.  Once galu finally caught up Russell S of galu was all stumbling around getting on the wrong table before finally dropping to his knees and leaning up on the table.  He was in this position for what seemed to be a long time probably 30 to 60 seconds before Jeff realized he was in trouble and called in medical.  From there things went downhill.  What began as funny, quickly turned into an OMG moment in which the viewer was quickly brought into how severe Russell’s situation was.  The medical personnel  mentioned his BP was lower then Mike’s who was eliminated earlier due to medical reasons.  Eventually they sat him up only for him to pass out again…  This time he laid there with what can only be described as a, “Dead man’s stare.”  It was bad and thankfully they did recognize this and made the right call by removing him from the game.  Russell at the end of the show said, “To do it and fail is better then never to try…”  Sad to see such a competitor go, but he realized that while it was a once in a lifetime chance at a million bucks he also had a wife and kids that needed him.  GG Russell!
